I study how digital systems
are redrawing democracy.

And what we can do about it.

Iman Ghasempour

Researcher and communicator with a passion for media literacy and democratic participation. Currently completing an MA in Media, Democracy, and Human Rights at Linnaeus University in Kalmar, Sweden. I hold a BA in Communication Studies from the University of Missouri–Kansas City.

My recent work examines TikTok's engagement logic and misogynistic content amplification — arguing that self-regulation, advertiser pressure, and even the EU Digital Services Act fall short because they target content rather than the algorithmic design that makes harmful content profitable. Alongside research, I bring two years of marketing experience, a decade with Adobe tools, and hands-on public relations work in civic communications.
